Where can i find a website with a good, simple, tutorial and or explanation of html?see details..NO WIKI links

Basically, i want to find a good website where some geeky site creater doesnt feel compelled to use these huge,unusual,new and modern technological words that no one is ever going to understand(even big time tech junkies have a hard time)I just dont want to be led on a wild goose chase with the dictionary.I'm not an idiot,its just that some of these webmasters/creaters,think they have something to prove or whatever...We all know you guys are smart!And another thing while i'm at it...TONE- DOWN -THOSE- CONFUSING ';SO CALLED WRITING SKILLS'; YOU THINK YOU POSSESS.Cause most of it is nothing but mumbo-jumbo when you read it 10 or 15 times slowy.(exagerating)Eventually you can almost make heads or tales of it,but when you look at the bigger picture,its usually just blah,blah,blah.Dont get me wrong,not all technical learning type websites are like that.HeHe...k...enough of me and my loud mouth.I just want something thats easy to read.Not one of those sites that show u simple html code either.Where can i find a website with a good, simple, tutorial and or explanation of html?see details..NO WIKI links

I'm making a form in HTML and im taking a tutorial... what does this mean-?

';The 1st line should be changed to the address of the FormMail script on your server.';I'm making a form in HTML and im taking a tutorial... what does this mean-?
It means that you should ';post'; the contents of the form to a URL that you have created or has been provided for you by your web host.

Ideally the script located at that URL will parse the contents of your form, validate them (i.e. name has been filled in, an email address is properly formatted, etc.) and then calls a service behind the scenes to either store the information or email it to a predefined address you would have setup.

    HTML (HyperText Markup Language) is the language that your Internet browser reads to show you the Web.

    There are Web sites that can help you learn HTML. Here are two:

    http://www.htmlgoodies.com/primers/html/

    http://www.htmlcodetutorial.com/

    A. Using Word: After creating a Word document, click File, Save As. In the Save As dialogue box, click the down arrow in the Save as type drop-down list box (near the bottom of the dialogue box) and select 鈥榃eb Page鈥?from the menu. You will then get the option to title the page. Your Web page should display just as it does in Word.

    To put your Web site onto the Internet, you will need server space. A server is a specialized computer devoted to putting pages on the Web. Most Internet service providers such space鈥攃heck with your service provider to learn how to utilize it.

    B. Macromedia's Dreamweaver ($399) creates professional pages, but it can be tricky to learn. http://www.macromedia.com/software/dream鈥?/a> ).

    C. Adobe鈥檚 GoLive ($399) offers a free 30-day trial.

    D. Microsoft's FrontPage ($199) is not for all Web hosts. Be sure that before you sign up with a host to post a Web page, find out how the Web host handles FrontPage.

    E. There are Web sites that offer HTML tutorials and templates. Here are a few:

    After all the dust settles, try out the articles and free tutorials and tools for webmasters at the URL below. They also reveiw a lot of hosting providers in three categories: Free, Low Budget and Business.
    First of all, if you need a free site, move it to Geocities. Tripod is so full of junk advertising that it loses the visitors interest and the worsens the appeal of your site.

    Secondly, learn HTML from the links the other posters provided. It's not tough to learn.

    And, obviously you haven't searched well enough if you're still asking. Have you done a search on HTML tutorials? You'll find what you need there.

    HTML Coding/programing Tutorial?

    Hey guys,

    I wanted to take up coding. Not with anybody, just myself. I heard that I should start out with HTML. coding first, but I wanted some websites with easy tutorials for HTML. and higher levels. (such as C++)

    So basically, whoever gives me the most helpful links will of course be awarded with the best answer.

    Also, can somebody tell me the order of difficulty for types of programming?

    Thanks in advance!HTML Coding/programing Tutorial?
    HTML to C++? You're looking at two ends of the scale of difficulty.

    HTML is by far the easiest...mainly because it's a markup language, not a programming language. Learning HTML and CSS are by far the easiest steps to take, but coding they are not. There are no conditional constructs, no loops, no variables or maths...

    While necessary if you want to be a web developer, and a good tool in the toolkit of a flexible developer, they will not help you be a programmer.

    If you want to start simple, start with a scripting language. Learn how to write batch files, VBScript/VBA Macros, Powershell, even JavaScript could help (though would require you know HTML, CSS and the DOM).

    From there you can go several directions. Java, C, C++, C#, VB, Python, it doesn't really matter which one, whatever takes your fancy. Concepts from one will translate well into most of the others.

    Your question regarding order of difficulty is vague. What do you mean by ';types of programming';? If I had to choose, I would say you mean 'web development' and 'application development' are the two types of programming, with app dev being more difficult, but that's probably not what you're asking. Did you mean the programming languages? Development methodologies? IDEs? Programming paradigms?

    Edit: Contrary to what liars never lies says, ';coding'; is a synonym for computer programming (as in, ';program code';), and as already stated, HTML is not a programming language. The proof is in the name of course: Hyper Text MARKUP LANGUAGE. It is a language used to markup text, where ';markup'; refers to the way the text is styled, arranged or structured. It adds context descriptors to content. Writing HTML-marked-up content is no more coding/programming than using a word processor to achieve the same task is.HTML Coding/programing Tutorial?
    Anybody that says if you want to learn programming you should start from HTML should be shot in the head.

    HTML is radically different from programming or scripting. HTML is codes to describe data. Program/Scripts is codes to describe process.

    %26lt;nitpick%26gt; Contrary to what oracle says, HTML coding is also coding. Though it is very different to coding program/scripts. %26lt;/nitpick%26gt;

    This is not to say that you shouldn't learn HTML though. HTML is easier than programming, and learning it allows you to get used to working in text-based environments (don't use WYSIWYG editors). All decent application developer knows at least some HTML. Also, HTML has a little fully-fledged scripting language called Javascript.

    http://opera.com/wsc/ will take you through HTML, CSS and some basic JavaScript.

    ALWAYS CHECK THE REFERENCE PAGES TO MAKE CERTAIN YOU ARE WRITING YOUR SOURCE CODE THE CORRECT WAY! JUST BECAUSE YOU SAW SOME SOURCE CODE WRITTEN A PARTICULAR WAY IN SOMEONE ELSE'S PAGE DOESN'T MEAN THEY WROTE IT CORRECTLY. MORE OFTEN THAN NOT YOU'LL FIND THAT THEY DIDN'T WRITE IT CORRECTLY. BUT LOOKING AT OTHER PEOPLE'S SOURCE CODE IS STILL A GOOD WAY TO LEARN. IF SOURCE CODE ISN'T WRITTEN THE CORRECT WAY IT CAN CAUSE OBJECTS TO BE DISPLAYED IN PLACES YOU DON';T WANT THEM IN OR EVEN CRASH SOMEONE'S BROWSER. NETSCAPOE 4.X USERS ARE THE MOST VULNERABLE TO CRASHING. MOST OF THE TIME BROWSERS A VERY FORGIVING WHEN IT COMES TO BAD SOURCE CODE. BUT WHY TAKE CHANCES. THE MORE CORRECTLY YOU WRITE YOUR PAGES THE MOER BROWSERS THEY WILL WORK WITH.

    When FTPing files from your computer to your online account send text files, HTML/XHTML files, CSS files in the ascii mode. Send image files, movie files, music files in the binary mode. There is an automatic mode that is supposed to detect the type of file you are sending. But it isn't always reliable.

    *** HERE IS HOW I LEARNED HTML/XHTML/CSS ***

    When you come to a page on the web click ';VIEW'; at the top of your browser and click on ';SOURCE';. If you are using Internet Explorer browser the HTML source code will open up in Windows Notepad. In Notepad click on ';FILE/SAVE AS'; to save the page's source code to your hard drive. In Internet Explorer click on ';FILE/OPEN'; to open the source code in the browser. Go back to notepad and remove some of the code and click ';SAVE';. Then in Internet Explorer hold down the ';SHIFT'; key and click on the ';REFRESH'; button on the browser's toolbar to see what effect the removed source code had on the page. You will learn a hundred times faster this way.

    Something to think about later is.......After you have gotten a little experience with HTML try DOCTYPE, XHTML, and CSS. Then try to validate your pages. Validating checks your source code for coding errors. validating will not work unless you are using the correct doctype and the correct document encoding. Validating is not something a newcomer should bother with. Being new you will make lots of mistakes and won't know how to fix them yet. http://validator.w3.org/

Go to your local public library and get the username and password for http://www.firstsearch.org/ You have to get them at your library because that is where you will pick up and return the books after reading them. You can look up the book yourself but they will have to order it for you. Sometimes this can take awhile if the book is checked out by someone else. After reading the books and making copies of certain pages with a photo copier simply return it to them.

    By using Firstsearch you can search for any book in the world. Some libraries might charge a small fee but most are free. Even if they charge a fee it will be less than the cost of the book or other item you are ordering. Every Web Design book I have read was acquired in this fashion. :)Where can i find free downloading tutorial books,on the net, for HTML language and Front Page ?

The second bird's width is a bit bigger but I tried changing it and it doesn't work, and i cant figure out how to position it where i want him...help?Can anyone point me to a good HTML rollover tutorial? or just some good old coding help?
    Just add this to the stylesheet for both the ';#a'; and the ';#b';.

    float: left;

    And incidentally, you have the stylesheet closed in the code right before ';#rollie b';

    What this does is causes one DIV to move tightly agains the other. You see, a DIV acts like a paragraph break, which is why it moves down below the previous DIV.

    w3schools have tutorials, and they have a place where you can type code on the left side, hit submit and see it on the right side.

    I personally edit HTML code in notepad++ (you could use Windows' standard notepad, this is just a bit more featured) and then just run it in firefox to test it out.

    http://www.w3schools.com and http://www.tizag.com/ are the two best resources I have found on the Internet so far. But you will easily find more stuff on the Internet. I suggest you to be original too, not only teach exactly what you find on a tutorial, but be original, teach your own classes. If your students have already visited the sites you use a your curriculum of classes, they will realize that you do not have anything original to teach... But yeah, it is important to find good resources on the web, so my first recommendations are http://www.w3schools.com and http://www.tizag.com/
